The cross-section section of a wire for starter connection to the auxiliary storage battery should make not less than 16 sq. mm (diameter about 5 mm) for internal combustion engines with compulsory spark ignition of a working mix up to volume of cylinders of 2,5 l. At engines with volume of cylinders over 2,5 l and at diesel engines the cross-section section of this wire should make at least 25 sq. mm. Thus defining is, naturally, the car with the discharged storage battery. As a rule, the cross-section section of a wire is specified on its packing. It is recommended to get this wire with the isolated tightening grips and cross-section section of 25 sq. mm as it is suitable and for engines with rather lower working volume of cylinders.
Both battery rooms of the battery should have tension of 12 Volts.
The discharged storage battery can already freeze at temperature–10 ° S.Pered wire connection for starter connection to auxiliary (out of the car) the storage battery the frozen storage battery surely defreeze.
The discharged storage battery should be correctly connected to an electric onboard network.
Check liquid level in the discharged battery. If necessary add the distilled water.
Establish cars at such distance among themselves that between them there was no metal contact. Otherwise at connection of a positive pole the current can already proceed.
At each of two cars tighten the manual lever of lay brake system. Establish a step transmission in neutral situation, and in case of an automatic transmission – in the provision of a parking of "R".
Disconnect everything consumers of a current.
Surely the engine of the auxiliary car should work during process of start-up of the main car with frequency of rotation in an idling mode. Thanks to it possibility of damage of the generator because of the peaks of tension arising at start-up is excluded.
During start-up avoid emergence of an open flame and burning cigarets near the storage battery because from it combustible gases can be allocated.
Pay attention to that wires for starter connection to the auxiliary battery could not be damaged by rotating details, such, as the fan of system of cooling of the engine.
Connect wires for starter connection to the auxiliary storage battery as follows:
1. A red wire connect to the plug of a positive pole of the discharged battery room of the battery (And).
2. Other end of a red wire attach to the plug of a positive pole of the storage battery giving a current (In).
3. A black wire attach to the plug of a negative pole of the storage battery giving a current.
4. Other end of a black wire connect to a good point of the case (X) the reception car. The metal detail screwed on the block of cylinders of the engine best of all for this purpose approaches. Under adverse circumstances: at wire connection to a negative pole of the discharged battery the last can blow up because of an iskroobrazovaniye and allocation of detonating gas.
Start and leave to work the engine of the reception car (the storage battery is discharged). At start continuously press a starter not more long 10 seconds as because of high consumption of a current tightening grips of poles and a wire heat up. Therefore sometimes maintain "a cooling pause" not less than 1/2 minutes.
Do not bend over storage batteries – there is a danger of a travmirovaniye!
After start-up of the engine disconnect clips from plugs in return sequence: at first disconnect from the plug a black wire (–) on the reception car, and then – on the car submitting a current, at first disconnect from the plug a red wire on the car submitting a current, and then – on the reception car.
