To check current consumption by separate glow plugs, in a repair truck apply the ampermeter of a direct current. Current-measuring pincers are clamped over the corresponding isolated wire, and the size of a current is measured by an induction.


1. Current-measuring pincers if are available, clamp over the separate wires going to glow plugs, establish ignition on a warming up (the engine cold) and measure current consumption. Placement of wires: cylinder 1 = the black-dark blue; cylinder 2 = the black-violet; cylinder 3 = the black-red; cylinder 4 = the black and yellow; cylinder 5 = the black and green.
2. Engine in volume of 2,0 l: about 8 seconds later current consumption by each glow plug should make around 14-16 And.
3. Engine in volume of 2,2/2,5 l: about 10-20 seconds later current consumption by each glow plug quickly should make around 8-15 And.
4. If the measured value exceeds the top preset value, replace the corresponding glow plug.
5. If the measured value is lower than the bottom preset value of a glow plug, check on break the current carrying line.
6. If there are no current-measuring pincers, establish ignition on a warming up (the engine cold) and connect a control bulb between the plug of a glow plug and the block of cylinders of the engine. The control bulb should flash, otherwise check on break a tokopodvodyashchy wire to a glow plug and, respectively, replace it.
7. Switch off ignition.
8. Check glow plugs on passing of an electric current. For this purpose shoot the tip for candles of G1-G4 (G5) with the relay of management of a warming up.
9. Measure by an ohmmeter one by one resistance between counters on the tip and the case (the block of cylinders of the engine). If resistance aspires to infinity (оо), break in a glow plug or in the tokopodvodyashchy line.

In the relay of management the warming up built in electronic protection against short circuit. At short circuit in glow plugs or electric wires the chain of a current is broken off. The relay again can function in that case when short circuit is eliminated or if the ignition key will turn back in situation "0".



1. Remove the inlet gas pipeline.
2. Unscrew a nut for the electric line.


At some models the nut is inserted as the integral accessory into a cable tip of the line.

3. Unscrew a glow plug a flexible face key of SW 12.

ENGINE OF 2,2/2,5 L


1. Remove the tip (shooter) with a glow plug.
2. Unscrew a glow plug (R9) a face key of SW 12.

Glow plugs with the burned-through pins

The burned-through pins of candles of an incandescence often are a consequence of malfunctions of nozzles which are not caused by shortcomings in or on glow plugs.

If such glow plugs are found, it is not enough of them to replace. It is necessary to make also check of nozzles on formation of a stream of injected fuel, vibration, pressure and tightness (work for a repair truck).


1. Twist glow plugs with the moment of 20 N of m.
2. Screw the electric line together with a nut with the moment of 4 N of m, therefore, manually, respectively, with the tip.
3. Engine in volume of 2,0 l: remove the inlet gas pipeline.
4. Engine in volume of 2,2/2,5 l: remove a cross-section pipe of the air filter.
