8.4.4. Device of neutralization of exhaust gases of the diesel car

GENERAL INFORMATION

Diesel engines of the S-class are serially equipped with the catalyst and system of a retsirkulyatsiya of exhaust gases. The catalyst is located in system of production of exhaust gases in the forward final pipeline instead of the additional exhaust silencer.

The catalyst (1) case, and also tubular accessions are made of high-quality steel. The layer of precious metal put on the catalyst promotes additional oxidation of exhaust gases. The monolith sensitive to pushes (3) is fixed by means of a metal fabric (2).

In the diesel engine the so-called oxidizing catalyst is applied. On this catalyst there is an oxidation of a monooxide of carbon (WITH) and hydrocarbons (NANOSECOND) to _{water (H2O)} and dioxide _{of the carbon (CO2)}, harmless to environment.

At a retsirkulyatsiya of exhaust gases their part again gets back to the combustion chamber. By means of it the combustion temperature that conducts to smaller formation of an oxide _{of nitrogen (NOX)} decreases.
