2.5.1.1. Replacement of engine oil

GENERAL INFORMATION

For replacement of engine oil the following tool is required:

  – an osmotrovy hole or a hydraulic automobile jack with false goats;
  – a set of replaceable face heads for removal of a cover of the oil filter and a carving stopper of a masloslivny opening;
  – an oil pan (if oil is not pumped out) by capacity at least on 8 l of oil.

The following quickly wearing out details are required:

– in that case if oil is not pumped out: an aluminum or copper sealing ring for a carving stopper of a masloslivny opening (it is sometimes delivered together with the oil filter);
– the filtering boss of the oil filter.

Depending on the engine fill in from 5,8 to 7,5 liters of engine oil. For a diesel engine, respectively, from 6 to 7 liters. Apply only engine oil recommended by Mercedes firm.

It is necessary to replace oil once a year. If during this period the car passes more than 15 000 km, it is necessary to replace oil after run of 15 000 km. Thus the filtering boss is at the same time replaced.

At severe conditions of operation, such as trip on short distances, rather frequent start-up of the cold engine and very dusty road conditions, to replace oil and the oil filter follows through shorter periods.

At the petrol engine engine oil can be pumped out at filling station by means of a probe through a masloizmeritelny tube. Do not throw out uncontrolledly fulfilled few and do not mix it with household garbage for the irreparable damage thereby is caused to environment, as, for example, pollution of ground waters.
